While on my way home from running errands one Saturday morning in March I drove down my town’s main street and was treated to quite a display of Americana. Lined up and down the street were fire trucks that were paired up across from one another and “holding” an enormous American flag between them. The site was breathtaking—the sky was clear and one of the bluest I had seen in many months, the yellow fire trucks looked newly washed and the vibrant colors of the large American flags set against the quaint main street looked like something out of a movie set. I couldn’t resist running home, grabbing my camera and driving back to make pictures.
After about an hour of walking up and down the street snapping away I realized that I don’t have to live in the most beautiful city or picturesque countryside to take interesting photos. I just needed to open my eyes to my own backyard.
Such insight. There’s so much to see when we open our eyes.
Lovely! You caught the flag at perfect billow… I’m going to use your post as an inspiration to be aware of my surroundings today and not just “go go go.”
That’s what I love about “art” – it’s about seeing bigger. Thanks, Michelle.
