While this day is a celebration of the birth of our nation, I think it’s also a day to reflect and, of course, celebrate what makes the U.S. of A such a great nation. I appreciate all the women writers, poets, photographers, painters–artists–who dare to share their art because there are still many other women around the world who cannot. I am grateful for the opportunity to express myself freely, without fear of punishment, even though others may not agree with my expression. And I am thankful for all who fight for the many causes, here and around the globe—showing that we are still the land of the free and the home of the brave.
