It’s December 2nd and I feel as if I’m already behind. To be honest, I’d love a few more days to enjoy the colors of fall.

So, in the spirit of lingering a bit longer on the subject of thanksgiving, each of our staff would like to share what they are grateful for this year:

Michelle

It’s been a year since Minerva Rising’s first issue and I’m so thankful for all of our contributors, subscribers and community. You took a chance on an unknown journal and sent us your work, bought our issues and participated in our community—for that I will always be grateful. I can’t wait to see what the next year brings for all of us. I’m thankful for the supportive words my Minerva sisters always have for me. It seems that no matter what, whether a lack of inspiration or an abundance of overwhelm, they know just what to say to keep me sane or give me a kick in the butt. And I’m thankful for my family and friends who believe in in me even when they don’t understand

Regina

I am thankful to be a part of Minerva Rising, thankful for the talented writers, community of readers and generous staff.  I am thankful we are in a place in the world where we, as women, have the freedom and opportunity to openly express ourselves.  I am thankful for what Minerva Rising stands, grateful for all those who’ve contributed their time, efforts and ideas in order to create this lovely space into which Minerva Rising continues to evolve.

Emily

Thanksgiving has come and gone twice here in my village far away from the States.  I am thankful for being shown a different perspective on the traditions and routines that have been a part of my Thanksgiving holiday for 40+ years.  I learned that we don’t take enough time to sit back and reflect on our gifts.  Even if we do it in private, in our prayers and quiet personal observations, we ought to make it more of a shared commemoration.  There is power in voicing our gratitude!  And I also learned, or re-learned, because I actually knew it all along — It’s all about the food!  But seriously, I am grateful grateful grateful to Kim Brown and the Minerva Rising community for opening the way for me to become involved in this celebration of women, their wisdom, and their creativity.

Lindsey

This Thanksgiving, I find myself counting old and new blessings. As always, I am grateful for the closeness of family and the fellowship of friends; for the health of those dearest to me; for the stories that take me on wonderful adventures; and, most of all, for God’s provision and love.  Yet, this year, as I reflect on the new opportunities and challenges that have come my way, the list grows. I realize that I am thankful for endings, even the ones that were difficult , because I have learned valuable lessons about letting go and dreaming new dreams. I am thankful for the steps forward, even the ones where my “step” was more of a stumble, because each has taught me to live with a little more grace. And I am grateful for the doors that have opened, especially the beautiful entryway that is Minerva Rising. This amazing group of editors, writers, and readers has filled me with hope for what lies ahead.

Kim

I am so incredibly thankful for our Minerva Rising staff – Michelle, Dulcie, Emily, Lindsey and Regina. This journal would not be possible without their creativity, wisdom and dedication. I am thankful for the talented community of women writers and artist who trust us with their work. I am thankful for our subscribers. But most of all, I am thankful that so many people believe in the importance of women’s stories.
