Times Square

I took this photo on a trip to New York City last year as I walked towards Times Square. To be honest I’m still not sure why I’m drawn to this photo. Yet I am. There’s nothing going on and whole lot going on at the same time. Maybe it’s the lines of the buildings. Maybe it’s the play of a red, white and blue as the dominant colors. Maybe it’s the apparent focus on the Brooklyn Diner sign competing with all the ads in the background.

Maybe that’s exactly why I’m drawn to the photo—because it’s not obvious. My “art” can be by the rules and predictable many times and this one doesn’t fit into my norm. I have to think about this picture. And isn’t that what art is about?
